Conditions treated

  • Anxiety & OCD — generalized anxiety, panic, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and the intrusive thoughts people are often most reluctant to describe.
  • Depression & bipolar disorder — including the persistent low mood many people assume they simply have to live with.
  • ADHD — evaluation, diagnosis and ongoing management, for adolescents and for adults never assessed as children.
  • PTSD — trauma-related symptoms, in adolescents and adults.
  • Insomnia — sleep difficulties, whether standalone or alongside another condition.

Services

  • Comprehensive psychiatric evaluation — a full assessment of history, symptoms and goals.
  • Medication management — prescribing, monitoring and adjustment over time.
  • Supportive psychotherapy — provided alongside medication management at each visit.

How I work

Mental health challenges affect every part of a person’s life, and I believe care should be compassionate, nonjudgmental, and built around the individual rather than the diagnosis.

Healing looks different for every patient, so I start by building trust — a space where you feel comfortable saying what is actually going on. I try to meet people where they are emotionally, mentally and socially, and to notice the strengths they bring, not only the difficulties.

I treat the whole person rather than a set of symptoms. In practice that means patient education and shared decision-making, so you understand your options and stay involved in the choices. It also means cultural sensitivity and a trauma-informed approach, because stigma and access are real barriers, and part of my job is reducing them.

Small moments of compassion and encouragement matter more than people expect. My goal is to help you find hope, stability and a better quality of life, through care that is evidence-based and attentive to the rest of your life.

Your first appointment

Your initial evaluation is an unhurried conversation, with enough time to go through your history, what has been happening, and what you want to be different. You will leave with a treatment plan, and any prescriptions go straight to your pharmacy. Follow-up visits have time to talk about what is working and what is not.

Credentials

Working together at The OAK Psychiatry

I work alongside Dr. Olamide Kolawole, who also provides psychiatric evaluation and medication management, and Toscha Sherman, who provides therapy. If you are seeing one of us for medication and another for therapy, we coordinate your care directly, so you are not carrying messages between providers.

If you are already working with a therapist outside the practice, I work alongside them rather than in place of them.
